‘Bachelorette’ Episode 3 recap
'The Bachelorette Season 8' episode 3
Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend. I spent yesterday remembering those who have served our country by barbecuing and hanging by the pool with friends. I know Memorial Day isn’t about BBQs and fruity drinks, but I think it’s about enjoying the freedoms we have because of those who have given their life to allow us to have those freedoms; therefore, I did just that! That said, I was VERY distracted by good company while watching “The Bachelorette” last night, but this is what I thought from the bits I did catch.
First off, is it just me or are a lot of the dates this season in very public places? I’m not crazy about that because I feel like it takes away from the date and probably makes it hard to feel out a genuine connection with loads of people taking photographs of the date and watching your every move. Regardless, I don’t think Emily is super into Chris. I mean, she didn’t kiss him until the very end of the date. When you are into someone, you kiss them — as soon as possible.
The group date was great. Emily is so lucky that she got to have her friends interview the guys. Think about it. When you go on a date you usually go home and discuss every detail with your girlfriends accompanied by a few glasses of wine. What was he like? Did he give you a goodnight kiss? Is he a good kisser? Did he make you laugh? How much? Did you split the bill, did you pay, did he pay? When will you see him again? Do you even want to see him again? Did you give him a rose and was he on the date for the right reasons? OK, I was kidding about that last one, but really the list of questions is endless and honestly one of the best parts about dating are these very necessary and usually comical debriefings with your girlfriends. When I was the Bachelorette I couldn’t do this — I had no one to talk to and it was really hard. I think it is great that Emily is getting to confide in her friends and family this season because it will probably help her make better decisions along the way.
Couple other thoughts about the group date:
I think her girlfriends had more than coffee in those cups they were drinking
Can you guys believe what Ryan said? That he would love her but wouldn’t love ON her if she let herself go? Yikes. Not cool at all. I kind of wish she put him in his place after that comment. She deserves better than a comment like that.
And lastly, I completely respect Emily for letting Tony go. He needed to go and it was blatantly obvious that she wasn’t feeling him at all.
Now onto the good stuff – Emily’s date with Arie. I absolutely loved her reaction to Dolly Parton – it was adorable. I’m a big Dolly fan myself and I’m also a big Arie fan — though his dancing could use some work. (Sorry Arie! Ha.)
Now I want to explain why I said in my blog last week that I believe Arie wins Emily’s heart. Here is my reasoning: Arie got the 4th date of the season. Based on that I am 100% sure he is the guy she picks in the end. You might be thinking I am crazy for thinking she picks him strictly based on this information and I’ll explain. I said this last season and the season before. Almost every season the one who gets the girl (or guy) in the end got the 3rd or 4th one-on-one date of the season. Why? Because you (meaning the Bachelorette) know the very first night that you like that person; therefore, you don’t feel the need to go out on a date with them the first week because you know you are keeping them the following week. Let me break this down for you guys:
Jillian’s season: Ed had 3rd date
Jake’s season: Vienna had 3rd date
My season: Roberto had 3rd date
Brad’s season: Emily had 4th date
Ashley’s season: JP had 4th date
Ben’s season is the exception. I think Courtney had 2nd date
So maybe it’s more accurate for me to say that whoever gets a date in the second week is usually the one standing in the end. Could that mean Chris might be the guy in the end? I highly doubt it. They just didn’t have the same chemistry that Emily and Arie had – heck, I didn’t think they had any chemistry at all. You know that saying, save the best one for last? Well in Bachelor world, you save the best one for third or fourth.
And obviously this isn’t my only reasoning. At the end of the date Emily says that she already fell in love with his personality. Well, that’s all that matters. Game over. He is totally the guy for her. Excited to watch their love story throughout the season.
Well, that’s all I’ve got this week. Don’t forget the follow me on my Facebook and Twitter pages for live commentary during the show.
Until next time…
