Emily was engaged at 19 and tragically her fiancée was killed. One week later, she finds out she's pregnant. Nineteen, alone, pregnant, love of your life ripped out of your hands .... How would we feel in the same situation?
She was forced to grow up quickly, basically overnight. I have no doubt she had support from many people, but at nighttime, alone in bed and crying on that pillow, she had to be sad and scared.
The 7 years with Ricki have been great and also taxing having to do everything by herself -- be the good guy and the bad guy and never getting a break. I can only imagine how hard it is and has been.
Jef enters the picture on a skateboard no doubt and I can see it in her face, she got to experience being that 19-year old girl again who was so caught up in love, with all the hope the future had.
Arie is much more mature and handled her more as a woman with womanly desires (which I believe she has), but Jef took her to a lost period of her life and also made her feel youthful, beautiful, desired, but he also showed her along the way that he could be trusted with her heart.
You complete that picture with his family, his neices and nephews, his friends and their young children and Emily has a built-in family for Ricki, plans to have more children with the love and support of an entire clan of family and friends, plus her own friend, Michelle Money and daughter Brielle not far way.
It makes perfect sense when you step back and look at the big picture. I was teamJef on night one and never have wavered but the more I see,the clearer I see it.
