| Ollie said he is looking for his niche in life and considering teaching. Dan suggested Teach for America -- no teaching experience is needed. Libra came out to the hot tub in the middle of this conversationa and said she was a teacher for a year after her daughter was born because she thought it would be good for her needing time for her family. She went through an alternative certification program. Dan asked how long that took in Texas, and she said it was intensive all day for a summer, maybe 6 weeks. She discovered teaching was not for her after a year because she had to be a psychologist, mother, father for the kids, and had to spend her own money on supplies -- she taught in a public school in a lower socieoconomic area. She said you really have to love the kids to teach -- not something you do for the money or the hours. |
