They ask him what Poland Syndrome was, and he says that it is a rare congenital defect. Jordan asks what congenital means, and he says it means you're born with it. He says only 1 in hundreds of thousands bazillions have Poland Syndrome and they aren't sure what causes it.
In severe cases, this syndrome causes people to have like "pterodactyl fingers", but in his case, he has a mild form of the syndrome so it only mostly affects his chest, although it affects all his muscles in some way. On a 1 to 10 scale, 10 being the most severe, the severity of what he has is a 1.
He had comsetic surgery to balance out the appearance of his chest. If he wins the money, he will use some of it to finish up parts of his plastic surgery.
This is why he doesn't swim in the BB house, so they don't see the scar. Natalie says he could have swum with his shirt on. Natalie asks to see the scar and he says no. Jordan shows her scar.
Kevin says this is why he can't do hanging stuff. Natalie asks what it has to do with hanging and he says it's because he doesn't have chest muscles, just an implant, because of the syndrome. He says he didn't want BB to do a segment on it, but now he can talk about it since the episodes are over.
Kevin says it is so rare that doctors sometimes don't know what to do. He has gone on message boards to read about it. Only his boyfriend and his family know he has Poland Syndrome in real life. In real life, he does go swimming, and takes his shirt off for it. |
