Matt comes into the house where Ragan is alone eating snacks:
M: Whats up?
Ragan avoids direct eye contact. "Eating."
M: "U ok?"
R:"Yeah!"
M: "U sure?"
R: "Yeah!" as if, of course, why not? Still no eye contact.
1:42 PM
Matt fills his water bottle @ the kit sink.
Ragan is standing in the kitchen to the right of the fridge, facing the wall btwn the fridge & the glass doors, eating something out of a chip-type bag.
Matt notices Ragan is avoiding eye contact. Not taking his eyes off of Ragan, he walks around to other side of the counter & sits down still looking @ Ragan.
Ragan sighs & dusts crumbs off his hands. "I'm gonna go listen to music." as he picks up his cup of ice & pours himself another cup of soda.
Matt still looking @ Ragan "You sure you're all right man?"
R: "Yeah." like a girl who says everything is allright, when it isn't--
M: "Sure?"
R: "Yeah!"
M: "Ok." Still looking at Ragan who is still avoiding eye contact.
Matt looks straight ahead at the floor & sighs.
Ragan looks @ Matt & says: 'You ok?' & takes a drink of his soda, as he walks from the fridge to the end of the counter.
M: 'hm, I dunno. It is, what it is, I guess.'
Ragan has placed both hands on the counter a few feet down & across from Matt. He tap-tap-taps the bottom of his cup on the counter as he looks @ Matt.
M smiling sheepishly, 'Had a talk with her before,
Looks @ Ragan & smiles & says; '.talked about you most the time (half laughing),...& that was about it'
R: "What about me?" takes another drink of soda.
"It was all like..

Matt looks down @ the cuticle cutter in his hand as he says, "...it was all just points about, like.... she'd be like..."
Ragan is to Matt's left, on the opposite side of the counter looking directly @ him now.
Matt pauses & looks away & rubs the left side of his face with his left hand.
"...like just like our bond basically and how... She's, I kept telling her that Lane & her are no different, & she's like, "You are."
She's; "I didn't campaign once for Lane last week & he [Ragan] campaigned for you the whole week."
She's like, "I heard about Final Four deals he was making."
I'm like, "I don't know what to tell ya."
I'm like.."Don't penalize me because he campaigned for me."
I'm like, "we're friends, we're good friends", ya know?
I'm like, "I dont want to see him go, but if he did, I'm not gonna go out for vengance for people. We're friends & then that's it." & "We're good friends in the house."
And y'know, 'I have his back to the extent that you have Lane's back' & everything.
I'm like, 'If he was campaigning for me, then he was campaigning for me, it's not, ya know, why am I getting punished?
And then she's goes; "and well, then he didn't get picked for the veto competition,
& I'm like; "Yeah. Don't penalize me for this, I wasn't picked either. You picked me. like, no one wants the job this is like my, y'know

like "why are you, why is Ragan coming up as factors in my sh*t all the time?"
& so, I mean I was trying subtley sway for Hayden, but, it seemed like me & you were the focus in tandem the entire conversation, so it was sort of, uh, pretty quick that's what was going to happen.
Cause she just focused on us the whole time. And that was that. It was basically me&you, me&you, me&you, me&you me&you & me trying to disuede her from that as best as I could effectively & ah, that was it & it didn't really work. I could tell it wasn't working, so...*sigh* so that's that."
Ragan says as he walks away from the counter; "I'm gonna go listen to music." & climbs the spiral staircase.
M: You know, you're sure being weird.."
R: "I'm fine."
M: "You're being rude."
R: "Huh?"
M: "You're being rude to me. Are you sure?"
R: "Yeah. I'm fine.."
M: "Alright dude."
1:45PM Matt goes to the john. They don't speak to each other again for several hours. |
