hey big brother fans....finally i got hoh!!!
its been fabulous. i've been waiting so long to make a move in this game and guarantee my safety that, this victory couldn't have come at a better time. oh wait, maybe it could have...last week when my beau was still here. losing beau was a very big and sad loss. i miss him like crazy. however, we spoke before his eviction and we are content with our many accomplishments. specially being the last pair standing. so about my hoh room...i am so blessed to have a wonderful girlfriend and family back at home. my maggie, "tush", sent me her rosary and my bunny from home and my "worm" (mom), sent me a little pillow that i once gave her which reads "i love you, mom." i also got my favorite, orangina, frosted flakes, jello, chapstick, floss, and a lot of other goodies. however, the most important gift of all...my pictures of my tush and my mom. i miss them like you guys can't imagine. enough about that...about the week...there hasn't been much. the girl scout troop is still strong, jani and her beefcake howie will no longer be together. i'm sorry to the fans who love them, but i can't break my promise to the girls.
i'm sure a lot of you probably don't agree with the way i'm playing the game, however, i feel as if i play it with my original intentions of honesty and get to the end...then the game can be played without backstabbing and deceit. at this point if i did take up janelle and howies' offer of teaming up with them...i would have no votes at the end. its better for me to stay true to myself and take the honest gamble. this game has taught me alot about the important things in life, morals, odds, weakness, strengths, being an underdog, and diversity amongst other things. i'm not sure if i'll be so blessed to be in the final two, but i have to say that i've been blessed to make it this far. yet beyond this game, i was blessed even before coming here, and thats everything i left back at home to take part in this experience.

Don’t Quote Me: Unattractive Lesbians
Ivette, the first out gay female contestant on the Big Brother reality series, has opened her mouth and inserted Carrie Bradshaw’s entire shoe collection. She might be a pretty, chic, and feminine lesbian (excuse the vulgarity), but she isn’t a very thoughtful one. Nor is she all that hip—the world has been offered a “different perspective of what gay women look like” for quite some time now, pre-L Word, on and off TV.
Where has Ivette been? Not at charm school.
Ivette speaks as though she’s the first “lipstick” (her noun, not mine) to be on television, but she’s not. She speaks as if Portia De Rossi is a dream and lesbians on the other side of the spectrum aren’t concerned with hygiene. What it appears Ivette is offering viewers is not a new, more glamorous perspective of lesbians, but a revealing peek into a timeworn and much more grim corner of lesbianism—shame.

CBS's BB Introduces Its First Lesbian Contestant
5' 6" Catholic woman of Dominican and Cuban descent, Ivette is the first Cuban-American contestant and the first openly lesbian contestant on Big Brother. In real life, Ivette is open about her sexual orientation.
Disclosing that she's gay might make her more of a threat, she says, and "guys will spend their whole time trying to [convert me], or they might hate me and kick me off. And the girls [may] hate me because they swear I'm not really a lesbian." To which she adds with a laugh, "it's been 10 years--it's not a fake thing, and it's not a phase."

Ivette Is The First!
Ivette Corredero is the first student to receive the Association of Women in Communications (AWC) Susan E. Sachs Scholarship. Ivette, 22, is a communications arts major at St. Thomas University. A graduate of South Miami Senior High School, where she was included in the prestigious "Who's Who Among American High School Students," Ivette's goal after graduation is to work her way up in the world of broadcasting to become a TV news anchor. Her college years have been a busy time for Ivette. In addition to her full-time studies, she has a full-time job at the Nexxt Cafe in South Beach in order to contribute to the family income and pay for her studies. She is also godmother to an eight-year old little girl who she cares for every day. Being a role model for her is "one of my main motivations," says Ivette. Recently diagnosed with diabetes, Ivette understands the challenge of pursuing a career while managing the physical limitations posed by illness.
AWC president Susan Hart presented the $500 scholarship to Ivette at the South Florida Media Guide launch party on April 23 at the Boca Raton Museum of Art. Proceeds from the Media Guide fund the Susan E. Sachs scholarship.
