August 21, 2005 - 9:50 p.m. to 10:07 p.m. BBT
This happened last night, but at least it will give you something to read while the houseguests are still sleeping. I am a court reporter, and I am certifying that this was transcribed verbatim and is true and correct to the best of my ability.
Conversation between Maggie, Beau and Ivette in the HOH room.
This transcript starts in the middle of a conversation. It begins with them talking about how James has been playing both sides from the very beginning. The first part of the conversation is Maggie talking about once Eric left that James wanted Maggie to be his partner. Maggie and Beau are trying to persuade Ivette to stop trusting James in a very mild manner so she doesn't get offended. April is in the Diary Room right now.
MAGGIE: ...long time ago.
BEAU: To be his partner.
MAGGIE: And then he figured out I was unapproachable because I don't forget.
IVETTE: Uh-huh.
MAGGIE: And then he asked, apparently -- I wasn't there for this one. He asked Janelle when she lost Ashlea, he said, "You know, you're going to need someone to pair up with."
IVETTE: How do you know that he said that?
MAGGIE: Janelle.
IVETTE: Janelle told you?
MAGGIE: Janelle told April.
IVETTE: When was this?
MAGGIE: This was a while ago.
IVETTE: She was trying to tell me -- by the way, did you see the way Rachel acted at dinner?
[Maggie shuffling cards and makes my audio inaudible at times.]
MAGGIE: No. I was up here showering.
IVETTE: She said -- she said, "Get that plate away from me." She told Howie that I was trying to give her some, and I was going [inaudible].
What's going on with James now?
MAGGIE: Um, James apparently went --
BEAU: He's with --
MAGGIE: -- up to Jennifer -- Jennifer went up to April --
BEAU: Janelle.
MAGGIE: No. This is now Jennifer. Jennifer went up to April and said, you know, basically -- supposedly, they had Jen -- I wasn't there for the part that Jen had a deal with James, so...
IVETTE: Exactly.
MAGGIE: ...that's all speculation.
IVETTE: Uh-huh.
MAGGIE: But Jennifer said, "Be careful. Watch the votes, because James said, you know, he would vote for me. He owes me one." Blah, blah, blah.
IVETTE: Uh-huh.
MAGGIE: And -- but James went up to Jennifer before she left and said, "Listen, there's probably a chance that you're going to be the one going home, and if you are, I want you to tell April that if she needs anyone while I'm here, she can count on me."
IVETTE: How do you know he said that?
MAGGIE: Because he actually said it to them.
IVETTE: Who?
MAGGIE: To Jen and April.
IVETTE: You were there?
MAGGIE: No. I'm never there when he speaks. He's very, very good at that. Not once have I heard him make deal to anyone.
IVETTE: So what are you saying?
MAGGIE: I'm not saying anything. That's what you missed, is what April was just saying.
IVETTE: Oh, April told me that.
MAGGIE: Well, I -- I hadn't heard it.
IVETTE: He wouldn't pair up with April. He wouldn't pair up with April, though. Do you realize that --
MAGGIE: No, I don't -- I don't -- I'm not saying he would.
IVETTE: Uh-huh.
MAGGIE: I'm just saying, that's what -- and April wouldn't.
IVETTE: Uh-huh.
MAGGIE: April would never.
IVETTE: I'm not saying that -- I'm not saying that I want -- that I would ever pick James before you guys, but we don't need James to be on our bad side right now. And there's no way to backdoor him now.
MAGGIE: No. Next week is the only week to backdoor him.
IVETTE: How do you backdoor him next week?
MAGGIE: You tell whoever is up there, "If you pick James, you leave."
BEAU: There's still people left that -- today there was two people that didn't play the veto.
MAGGIE: Right. Next week --
BEAU: And next week --
MAGGIE: -- is the only --
BEAU: -- is the last --
MAGGIE: -- week to backdoor him.
BEAU: -- week that we're able to backdoor him.
IVETTE: Shhh.
MAGGIE: Next week is the only week, so if that's the only way to get him out of here, it has to be next week. I know we need him for a couple more weeks strategically, I know that, but if we don't want to compete against him in the veto, next week is the only week. And what you do is you pro- -- whoever has HOH, if it's one of us -- if this is something -- if you want him gone, it needs to be next week.
BEAU: We need him gone. Hello?
[Ivette totally silent and appears as though she lost her best friend. Watch how Ivette starts talking as soon as the conversation switches from James to Janelle.]
BEAU: It's just a fact. Janelle or him. They're like this (indicating).
MAGGIE: They are. They're very, very equal. Janelle has got luck and a little bit of skill. James is all skill, all skill.
IVETTE: Yep.
MAGGIE: Skill doesn't run out; luck does.
BEAU: Exactly.
MAGGIE: But she's got this luck like I can't f*cking believe.
BEAU: I know.
MAGGIE: Like I haven't seen before.
IVETTE: Do you think she's really dumb? I don't think she's dumb.
BEAU: She's not dumb. It's all an act. It's all an act.
IVETTE: It's an act.
MAGGIE: Yeah. I don't think she's dumb.
IVETTE: So maybe it's not so much luck; maybe it's skill.
BEAU: Um-hmm.
MAGGIE: Yeah, yeah.
IVETTE: She looks all dainty and stuff, but when it's time to play the game --
BEAU: But maybe it's -- maybe it's, like, you know, when she -- she doesn't have a high skill level, so she obviously sees what's easiest and easiest always works for her.
MAGGIE: But we have a better chance of beating Janelle at something, possibly --
BEAU: Yeah.
MAGGIE: -- than we do James. I don't think I can beat him. I'm going to try my f*cking darndest. When it comes to competitions and stuff, he's f*cking good.
BEAU: Uh-huh.
MAGGIE: I want him to stay for two more weeks because strategically, he could benefit the four of us for two more weeks, but when it gets down to it, I think he's going to wipe us out. I really, really do.
BEAU: I think the same thing. I think the same thing.
MAGGIE: But -- now, here's the thing -- and I'm not sold on this, totally not, but if you are going to backdoor someone and you don't want them playing in the veto, it has to be next week.
BEAU: Exactly.
MAGGIE: Because after next week, there is no backdoor. That's where I'm at a total toss-up. I mean, can we -- can we beat him in two or three weeks? There's always a chance.
BEAU: There's a possibility.
MAGGIE: There's always a chance. I just don't know, like, if backdooring is the only way to get him out of here.
BEAU: I mean, if we have -- you know, if we have a -- a competition like the coaster toss, you know, it's anybody's game.
MAGGIE: Right.
BEAU: If we have a competition like, you know, testing, you know, and there's three or four people, you know, you can obviously not --
MAGGIE: Yeah, but he out-thought people on the pinata.
BEAU: Well, because see, none of the people were going to be thinking with their heads.
IVETTE: He didn't have to think.
MAGGIE: No, he didn't. But you're the only one. He out-thought Rachel and Howie. I'm not surprised about Howie, but I'm really surprised about Rachel.
BEAU: Um-hmm.
MAGGIE: I am. And Jennifer too. He out-thought her too. So it's not just physical skill. He knows what people are going to be thinking --
BEAU: Yep.
MAGGIE: -- and he uses that, which is brilliant. Hands down, he is playing an excellent game. I really think he is.
IVETTE: Um-hmm.
MAGGIE: Peoplewise, he's got teams not liking each other, and he's in the middle. Okay? You know, I just think he's playing an excellent game.
BEAU: Yeah. If it comes to point where there's only six people left, you understand that everyone is going to play veto.
MAGGIE: Yeah.
BEAU: Everyone is going to be playing.
MAGGIE: And we may never win it.
BEAU: I know.
MAGGIE: That's it. I mean, I've always said, "You mess with fire, you're going to get burnt." I don't know how long we can mess with fire, because using him like today -- we used him -- he won and he's -- and you can't say for one second that we didn't all use him.
BEAU: Yeah.
MAGGIE: Because everyone who wanted him to play was using him for his skill. So we messed with fire.
BEAU: He knows that we want to get rid of Janelle next, right?
IVETTE: Um-hmm.
MAGGIE: How does he know that?
BEAU: He's not stupid.
IVETTE: Well, I just said, "Janelle is a big threat."
MAGGIE: Are you watching what you're telling him?
BEAU: I've even said that, too.
IVETTE: Yes.
BEAU: Huh?
IVETTE: I'm not telling him everything.
MAGGIE: I'm so nervous about what -- about him going to the other side and telling them stuff.
BEAU: What the hell else are they going to do? The same sh*t anyway. They're already on our back anyway.
MAGGIE: Yeah, but I don't want them to be able to figure out what we want to do and plan accordingly. Even if you know that we're going to come after you, knowing the one target we're coming after changes the way that you play things.
BEAU: She's [Janelle] always been our target, somewhat.
MAGGIE: James is not my target right now. I absolutely would love for Janelle to be out before him.
BEAU: Me too.
MAGGIE: I'm just worried about my abilities in the game versus him.
BEAU: But it's also, like --
MAGGIE: That's why Rachel is a great --
BEAU: -- even if we tell him --
MAGGIE: Rachel is a better competitor than Howie. That's why she's -- you know what I mean?
BEAU: Right.
MAGGIE: She is. She's better at the game than Howie is.
BEAU: You know what? Maybe she f*cked up today on purpose --
IVETTE: No.
BEAU: -- so that she would think that, you know, oh, well, you know, I tried --
IVETTE: No. She was way too p*ssed.
BEAU: She's a good actress.
IVETTE: She was way too p*ssed.
BEAU: We know that already.
IVETTE: No. Yeah, but she was --
MAGGIE: She's a very good actress. Very good. Howie thinks he's the one leaving --
BEAU: He does.
MAGGIE: -- so we've done something right.
BEAU: Um-hmm. And I surprised James today when I picked him. He had no clue.
MAGGIE: I saw the way he was eating. He eats that way before he competes.
BEAU: What do you mean?
MAGGIE: He knew he was going to be picked. I'm watching his diet.
IVETTE: What?
MAGGIE: I'm watching what he eats. He eats certain things on days he competes.
IVETTE: Are you serious?
MAGGIE: Uh-huh.
BEAU: Well, he was supposed to compete with Howie, so that's the point. He didn't know he was going to be competing with me. He knew he was going to compete.
IVETTE: What did he eat?
MAGGIE: Just competition-type food.
BEAU: Like? Eggs?
MAGGIE: Like -- yeah. Like protein, banana -- let's see. What else did I watch him eat this morning? Mostly just the banana is when I know he's -- because he doesn't eat bananas on his days off. If they were smart, they wouldn't have picked him, though, because he would beat them.
BEAU: Right.
MAGGIE: So he knew he was competing, and I don't think he -- I think that Rachel and Howie were going to pick Janelle and April. I really think so. I don't think -- I think he -- strategically Rachel and Howie would not pick him. They wouldn't.
BEAU: Um-hmm.
MAGGIE: They wouldn't do it. So the only way he knew he was going to compete is if he was competing with you.
BEAU: Well, I didn't tell him.
[Side note: Maggie has been shuffling cards nonstop throughout this entire conversation. Somebody please take the cards away from the houseguests or tell them to only shuffle a couple times, please!].
IVETTE: I even got ready.
BEAU: In this game, you always have to be ready.
MAGGIE: Um-hmm.
BEAU: You know?
MAGGIE: Um-hmm. Yep. I ate a healthy breakfast in case I competed.
BEAU: Um-hmm.
MAGGIE: Absolutely.
IVETTE: I ate -- I ate nice too.
MAGGIE: Yeah.
IVETTE: An egg and English muffin and a banana, too, today.
MAGGIE: That's perfect.
IVETTE: Consciously I didn't even know. I just had it for breakfast.
BEAU: I had eggs and cereal.
MAGGIE: What do you guys think? I know we're not jumping the gun, but eventually, if we're all still three [forget about April, did you, Maggie?] -- you know, four of us are here -- or the --
IVETTE: Well, let's say -- let's say one of us gets HOH next week, all right?
MAGGIE: You mean either me or you? [Forgot about April again.].
IVETTE: We put up Howie and Janelle.
BEAU: Or April.
MAGGIE: Right.
IVETTE: Yeah. Where is she?
MAGGIE: But she's not here. We're just talking about it that way.
BEAU: Oh.
MAGGIE: Yeah.
IVETTE: Howie or Janelle -- we put up Howie and Janelle, and they --
MAGGIE: And tell them they --
IVETTE: -- pick Beau and who -- whatever.
MAGGIE: And April.
IVETTE: And then we backdoor James?
MAGGIE: The only way it would work is if they're will not to pick him to compete, so they would have to know --
IVETTE: I wouldn't think that -- I don't think they would because they don't want him to get the power of veto.
BEAU: Um-hmm.
IVETTE: Understand?
MAGGIE: Uh-huh.
IVETTE: Does that make sense to you?
MAGGIE: Um-hmm. And if one of them wins the veto, then, I mean, no one will know beforehand, but he has to go up next to them anyway, because there's only us four left.
BEAU: Exactly.
IVETTE: And then the four of us take on Janelle and Howie?
MAGGIE: That makes sense.
BEAU: Um-hmm.
MAGGIE: If you want to -- if -- if -- if you want to backdoor him, it's the only time where he can't compete in the veto. From the next week on, he will be competing in every single veto situation. And he can win this game by always removing himself with the veto.
BEAU: Always.
MAGGIE: Always. He can win this game that way.
BEAU: And each one of us will be the casualty in the process.
MAGGIE: Yeah. We'll have casualties in our own group from it.
BEAU: Should I talk to Howie?
IVETTE: No.
MAGGIE: NO!
BEAU: Okay.
MAGGIE: This is way jumping the gun.
BEAU: Only if we get it?
MAGGIE: No, that's -- I don't even think --
BEAU: Even if he gets it?
MAGGIE: No. Don't even -- yeah. Don't even talk about it.
BEAU: Why?
MAGGIE: Because you're jumping the gun.
BEAU: I'm saying -- I'm just saying if he gets HOH, if Howie gets HOH.
MAGGIE: We'll deal with that when it comes.
IVETTE: He won't believe us, probably.
MAGGIE: Probably not.
IVETTE: He has no reason to.
MAGGIE: Right. So why tell him? They're going to fight for it -- we'll just tell them --
IVETTE: And he'll go run and tell James --
MAGGIE: -- very specifically --
IVETTE: -- because he already told James before, "I'm going to f*ck them over."
MAGGIE: Right.
IVETTE: He's was like, "Watch them. They're coming after you and f*ck you guys over." He did say "f*ck" but that's what they told James.
BEAU: What did James say?
IVETTE: Nothing. He just told me that.
BEAU: Well, obviously we have to. It's a f*cking game. Dumb*ss. Duh.
IVETTE: I just have a -- I just -- remember those instincts that I was telling you about?
MAGGIE: Yeah, what are you in- -- yeah. I mean, your gut is --
IVETTE: I just have a funny -- I just have a funny instinct that we can leave James and Janelle together in this game.
BEAU: Yeah, totally, we can't.
MAGGIE: Right. So who do we get rid of first? Well, the one who we can't beat.
IVETTE: Did someone fart?
MAGGIE: Nope.
BEAU: Yes.
MAGGIE: I'm uncomfortably full.
BEAU: You say that all the time.
MAGGIE: Do I?
BEAU: Um-hmm.
MAGGIE: It's true.
IVETTE: Was that wrong of me today to say, that I wasn't sure if we had enough food?
BEAU: What?
IVETTE: Was that wrong of us not to invite them to eat?
MAGGIE: No.
BEAU: No.
MAGGIE: No. They always expect us to feed them, and we have. We have fed them --
IVETTE: I'm just tired -- I'm just tired of her not inviting us to have dinner.
BEAU: Today was a perfect day to do it. Now, tomorrow, of course, we'll be nice again, but still, you know, she should think about it, you know?
MAGGIE: She doesn't though. People never see what they do.
IVETTE: Um-hmm. She's a nasty person. I'm sure she doesn't.
MAGGIE: We don't see things that hurt other people's feelings. You just don't see it. I said something to April today, and I hurt her feelings on accident, and I didn't even know I was doing it. So -- you know what I mean? You don't --
BEAU: Yeah.
[Finally, they start talking about the card game they are about to play after Maggie shuffled the cards for literally 20 minutes straight.]
IVETTE: The dumb b*tch asked for the cards today and didn't even touch them.
MAGGIE: Yeah. She just doesn't want us to have them.
BEAU: She's stupid.
IVETTE: What was she saying outside today when you overheard her? I couldn't hear sh*t, what she was saying.
MAGGIE: Umm, I don't remember. It will come to me --
IVETTE: You said that she --
MAGGIE: -- in a couple hours.
IVETTE: You said -- you said that she said she wanted the hell out of this house, or something like that?
MAGGIE: Oh. She said this house was hell.
IVETTE: Rachel?
MAGGIE: No. Janelle -- no, Ra- -- they both each said something, and I don't know who said this stuff.
BEAU: That they can't wait to get to sequester, or some sh*t like that.
IVETTE: Well, [inaudible].
MAGGIE: Someone said, "I want the" --
BEAU: Yeah, uh, uh, April told me that she said that she can't wait to get -- that Rachel said that she can't wait to get the hell out of here.
[Side Note: Notice how all the gossip seems to always start with April. Even when she's not in the room, she's causing gossip].
MAGGIE: And Janelle said, "This place is like hell."
IVETTE: And yet today she seemed so happy that she was still here and the table was smaller.
MAGGIE: Um-hmm.
BEAU: Who?
IVETTE: Janelle.
BEAU: Oh.
MAGGIE: Um-hmm.
IVETTE: I can't believe that -- you saw -- you saw Rachel laughing about the fact that Jennifer tried out five times in a row?
MAGGIE: Um-hmm. Yep. That's pure meanness. Do you guys want me to deal?
IVETTE: I'm sure Janelle -- this is not the first time she's auditioned.
MAGGIE: It doesn't matter.
BEAU: Right. Who gives a sh*t?
[Feeds cut out. End of transcription.]
