She has been applying for chemistry jobs but one she was offered was $12/hr and you had to drive 45 minutes without traffic, way more with traffic, so she couldn't take it. She was working at a law office twice a week for only $9/hr, and then they wouldn't let her leave early to train for a bartending job even though she told them there was no way for her to live on a two-day job for $9/hr so she had to leave. Then she was doing temp jobs for $10/hr that were odd jobs, nothing full-time.
Rachel and Brendon have just a little bit of money saved up. They are hoping Rachel can get a full-time job. Shelly asks Rachel has a chemistry degree, correct? Rachel says yeah and she started a master's. But there is not enough funding, grants have been cut. Brendon says Obama has cut science funding. So Brendon and Rachel talk about how there aren't a lot of science jobs and it's very competitive those that are. Rachel was called to the DR. Rachel says she has also had the show come up in interviews all the time, how she had to fight to stay in the game. Shelly asks if she owns up to it, and Rachel says she breaks down and cries in interviews. Shelly says Rachel should own up to it, show she knows, because Rachel owns up to it in here. Rachel leaves for DR.
After Rachel leaves, Shelly and Brendon talk about everyone thinks it's cool to be on TV but people bash you on the Internet whether you were the nicest person or the meanest person. |
