Andimsum's Viewpoint:

I write the songs that make the elevators run.
I write the songs that makes being on hold no fun.
I write the songs that makes waiting so long.
I write them songs, I write them songs.

Diana DeGarmo
"One Voice"

Great outfit, for the office. Probably her best performance, But I felt no excitement. I just don’t see her as a star. Anyone want to go on a cruise?

George Huff
"Trying to Get That Feeling Again"

What was that?!? I got that feeling that I wanted to change the channel! He sounded as if he was singing through an earthquake! That’s something I never want to hear again!

Jennifer Hudson
"Weekend in New England"

It looked like her clothes shrunk! She has a very strong, Star quality voice and a cute face, but her mama dresses her funny!

Jasmine Trias
"I Know I'll Never Fall in Love Again"

She was the only one who made me feel her singing through my whole body instead of just my ears! She made an impression on me beyond her exotic looks!

LaToya London
"All the Time"

It seemed to me she hurried through the song. She is beautiful and her voice is one of the best I’ve heard! Someday she’ll be a star!

John Stevens
"Mandy"

He needs to grow up and his little voice too! Any lounge would be happy to have him or maybe he can perform on the same cruise ship as Diana!

Fantasia Barrino
"It's a Miracle"

She still reminds of Chris tucker in Rush Hour or some woman throwing a fit in K-Mart!It's just something I don't want to listen to.

I see Little John being sent home this week. Because I think that’s just about all people can take of his “Fly me to the moon” act! And I would make George sit in a locked room in a straight jacket and make him listen to “It’s A Small World After All” for 24 hours for making me sit through his singing this week!
Other viewpoints (by madman):

Tonight's theme was Barry Manilow. You can complain about his songwriting, but if you've purchased or eaten any part of American culture in the last 2-3 decades, it's probably because of Barry's winning sales jingles. The jingles he's written are more numerous than his radio-ready pop hits. Like him or love him, he did work with the kids to try to make his songs new and different from how he originally recorded them. He did not phone in his appearance, but seemed to work hard at it and enjoy it immensely. On to what some of you Jokers said about the performances.

Diana DeGarmo
"One Voice"

A Georgia peach that was maybe picked a little too early is my best description of Diana. I'd never heard the song and can't remember it now. Houseguest13 said about her performance, "Anybody liking this. Anyone at all?". Needless to say the only answer was something smarmy from me. Steve3 said, "She did a good job, but her time is limited." Yep. ITA.

George Huff
"Trying to Get That Feeling Again"

George Huff was "Trying to Get That Feeling Again", but having some problems getting there. George's range is somewhere below that of bass, which probably sounds like a soprano to elephants, but I swear some of it is subsonic to human hearing. Not only didn't I get that feeling, I thought I was going deaf in some spots and had the urge to mount my leather sofa at other times. Anyhow, Houseguest13 said she thought she "Lost that Loving Feeling", but I'm not sure if she's talking about her life or George's singing.

Jennifer Hudson
"Weekend in New England"

I think Manilow made some of these songs up on the spot. Where did this song come from? Anyhow, Jennifer is quickly becoming my favorite diva idol. That fuzzy pink thing the Easter Bunny left us has grown from an ugly pink duckling into quite the swan (of which there were three others in the audience). This swan has a powerhouse of a voice that she has great control over. She's lighting my bulb for number uno elspoto. Other comments included Stratos' declaration, "I've decided tonight....she must win", and Liss's "socks off" which was followed by a hygiene discussion and a passed inspection. As Jen said, "I'm feeling the me" or something kinda like that. Don't quote me.

Jasmine Trias
"I Know I'll Never Fall in Love Again"

asmin Trias picked the song, "I Know I'll Never Fall in Love Again" and she sang it good. I've just heard this song one time too many and I Know I'll Never Want to Hear it Again. Steve3 said, succinctly, "Jasmine was ok, but after Jennifer, there is no competition."

LaToya London
"All the Time"

These must be songs that I turned off when they came on the radio, because I've never heard of some of these. Or heard them and didn't listen closely. It's another Diva Ballad, cry your way home from the movie song. LaToya is maybe more polished than the other two divas, but I don't find her as interesting. I've always liked the odd man out over the one more like the rest, so that's part of it. She's just too smooth for me. I get bored. With Fantasia or Jennifer there's the element that things could come unwound and get crazy, but with LaToya, it's gonna be a smooth ride all the way home. Once again Liss was "Socks off" and few other minor compliments, but "smooth" doesn't bring much talk to the table. It borders on boring.

John Stevens
"Mandy"

It's only fitting that my least favorite Idol sing my least favorite Banilow song. John Stevens singing "Mandy" was as horrid a combination possible on this theme night. All the bad things Simon has said flooded my brain to soften the pain of listening to John. "Abysmal, horrid, and just not good enough." Enough is enough. Let's hope it's back to the practice field for John for a few years. Maybe he'll take up writing gaming software or something more fitting to his natural geekiness. Rabbit said, "for the first time, it felt like he was feeling the song and not just singing it!". Well, I think he more than felt that song..... he downright molested it.

Fantasia Barrino
"It's a Miracle"

Last was the controversial Idol, Fantasia Barrino singing a gospeled up version of "It's a Miracle". They say any talk is good talk, so Fantasia is doing great I guess. On all the boards, she's the one they either love or hate. You either get her or you don't. Very little middle ground there. I fall on the love her side for any number of reasons, none of which would change your mind if you were on the hate her side. It's all relative to experience, motivation, and perception. We could write a book about her with the pages of posts that hate her/love her, so we'll leave it at this. She's nineteen, from an insular enviroment. She's obviously got rebel in her spirit and has lived it in her life to some extent. But, she's just a kid, trying to get ahead, just like the rest of these kids. Give 'em a break occasionally. It's just a game show with extended winning possibilites. Bunch of kids putting on a show with 30 million people watching. How would you hold up?

I say John Steven goes home. Bottom three should be John, George(sorry), and Diana
