Big Brother 28 Update: Three Nominees, One Wet Couch, and an Existential Barrett

Yash’s second HOH officially produced the least surprising nomination ceremony in Big Brother history and one of the strangest. With Dee’s BB Bribe protecting both her and Devens, and Taylor safely installed as Yash’s closest ally, he nominated Drew, Melody, and Barrett. At Final Seven, half the available house is now on the block. The nomination screen is less a strategic announcement than an attendance sheet.

Melody accepted the news with the serenity of a woman whose last nerve had already requested early checkout. She sat outside eating, announced that her entire summer was ruined, complained that there were only seven people left, then ate ice cream from Drew’s spoon and handed it back. Nothing captures romantic tension under pressure like shared dairy and mutual doom.

Drew told her they were going to stay and suggested manifesting it, because apparently the backup plan after alliances, campaigning, and competitions is vision boarding. Melody was unconvinced. She worried about facing Barrett, resented having to deliver another eviction speech, and later said she felt mentally drained while painting her toenails. Honestly, that may be the most emotionally regulated response anyone has managed in this house.

Drew tried to reassure her that she might have been saving luck for this moment. If she wins veto, he said, her survival would help him earn a jury vote. Even his comfort now comes with an invoice.

Elsewhere, the house arranged itself into a portrait of quiet collapse. Dee played pool with Drew. Devens walked the yard with Barrett while they laughed about Mallory’s nickname, “the Pipe Queen.” Taylor watched from the hammock. Yash ate cake and reported a sore body and tingling throat. Barrett ate alone, read the Bible in the Have-Not room, and asked production to send in nearly any former houseguest to raise morale.

His cam talk became wonderfully existential. Barrett noted that fewer than 200 people have spent 70 days inside the Big Brother house, and exactly one person named Barrett has done it. He also admitted he could no longer remember what a room without cameras or microphones dangling from the ceiling looked like. This is either gratitude, sleep deprivation, or the opening narration of a hostage documentary.

By Saturday morning, the mood had improved from “impending eviction” to “damp furniture.” Melody carried a towel outside so she could sit on the wet couch. Drew inspected his hair. Taylor remained in bed singing the alphabet song while Big Brother repeatedly ordered everyone awake. Yash briefly removed his HOH headphones after being told to lower the volume, then put them back on, demonstrating the listening skills that built his social game.

The veto now determines everything. Drew began Friday as Yash’s stated target, but later reports moved Barrett ahead of him, with Melody third. None of that is stable until Saturday’s competition. At Final Seven, “safest nominee” simply means the house is currently discussing somebody else while you borrow his ice cream spoon and privately decide whether evicting him might rescue your summer.
