BB28 8/30 Blog: We’ve Seen This Twist
Before—But We Didn’t See the Ending (Literally)

Before we got to this production-hyped twist, we saw the fallout from Mallory’s eviction. Dee
cried because Drew and Barrett were crying. Yash was disappointed. Melody screamed.
Then Drew had an extremely awkward chat with her. In a DR, he called himself a baby the
icons are making into an evil icon. Barrett, on the other hand, clearly does not want to be
raised by the icons anymore.
But he wouldn’t get his chance at HOH emancipation yet because the dining room table time machine landed on a king’s prized pig and the HOH was canceled. Britney Haynes threw down the gauntlet and revealed that instead of an HOH, the players would be competing for their literal BB lives instead.
There were four “contests” (comps). All the houseguests competed in the fist, only two did in
the second and third, and for the last one three houseguests would go head-to-head-to-
head. The winner of each one earned safety for themselves and another houseguest of their
choice. Then they also got to choose the player(s) to send into the next contest. The winner
of the final contest would get to choose which one of the other players they bested to evict.
The first comp was a candle stacking challenge, and Dee won it—which took away a lot of
suspense from this medieval comp royale—and saved Devens. So, yeah, this “twist” went
pretty much exactly like the season has—an icon steamroll. After some quick chats between
the Crossovers and Haley, Dee chose Drew and Haley to compete next—giving them the
most opportunities to play and the best chance at safety. Cue Barrett getting even more
jaded with the Crossovers.
Their head-to-head comp—hosted by Cody Calafiore—was a 3D puzzle. While the rest of
the houseguests were sent inside to spiral, Drew pulled it out and saved Angela. He sent in
Barrett to challenge Haley. Cue Melody feeling even more conflicted about Drew.
Tiffany Mitchell hosted Haley and Barrett’s carrying-grapes-in-a-tube-across-a-balance-beam comp (is there a proper name for these?). After a struggle, Barrett won it and got to choose the final two houseguests to send back in time. Yash volunteered to go up for the chance to send Haley home. And Barrett—cliffhanger.
But with the feeds I can spoil as much for you as I have space for here (big breath): Haley’s
gone; Drew won HOH; he put up Taylor, LaLa, and Yash; Yash won veto; Devens
volunteered to be the renom; Drew might do it; Barrett would vote Devens out.
