Big Brother 28 Update: Betrayals, Bedtime Flirting, and Bathroom Trauma

Big Brother 28 spent this week proving that time travel is less dangerous than volunteering for the block and trusting your alliance.

The medieval twist finally claimed Haley, who got three chances to save herself before Yash won the crown-building competition and chose to eliminate her. Haley left before jury, which is a brutal way to discover that arts and crafts can, in fact, ruin your summer.

Then Drew won Head of Household in a tiebreaker against Yash and Melody. He nominated Yash, LaTrice, and Taylor, apparently hoping for a calm week. This was adorable. Yash won the Power of Veto, saved himself, and Drew replaced him with Devens, who had volunteered as a pawn. Somewhere, every former Big Brother houseguest who ever said “pawns go home” felt a disturbance in the universe.

Zingbot also arrived, because apparently this house needed an insult robot to identify problems visible from space.

Devens believes Drew, Barrett, Dee, and Angela have his back. They do, technically, if by “have his back” we mean they are standing behind it while discussing where to place the knife. Barrett wants to evict him. Melody and Yash are on board. Angela wants to evict him. Dee also wants him gone but would prefer Angela cast the betrayal vote while Dee supervises from a safe emotional distance and later explains that this was somehow everyone else’s fault.

If Devens loses Thursday’s Blockbuster, he is expected to become the first juror. If he wins, LaTrice appears most vulnerable, although Yash briefly floated keeping her over Taylor because LaTrice wins competitions. Taylor’s social strategy of being underestimated remains surprisingly effective, especially when everyone says it loudly in the same house. She has won a veto, yet the house discusses her like a decorative pillow that occasionally votes. That pillow could outlast them all.

Naturally, Drew remains blissfully unaware that his HOH may end with his allies rearranging the furniture of his game. His greater concern Wednesday night was Melody, who returned to the HOH bed after being furious that he helped evict her best friend, Mallory. Nothing repairs trust like soft lighting, a king-size mattress, and absolutely no resolution.

Their late-night conversation covered drag brunch, childhood collections, breakups, sober raving, and Drew’s belief that movie-theater popcorn takes years off your life. Melody told him she needed to win Big Brother. Drew replied that he planned to win instead, which is either flirting or the least romantic Final Two proposal ever offered.

They held hands. He asked whether she was plotting against him because of Mallory. She eventually left at 2:55 a.m., meaning the season’s slowest showmance survived another night without a kiss, a strategy agreement, or Drew learning what drag brunch is.

Elsewhere, the entire house hid in Drew’s HOH shower and revealed themselves only after he began using the toilet. Ants also invaded the lounge couch. At present, the ants may have the best-positioned alliance in the house: numerous, discreet, and apparently the only players not volunteering for anything.
