Big Brother 28 Week Nine Recap: An Icon Falls and the Pressure Cooker Strikes

Big Brother 28 spent Week Nine proving that the fastest way to destroy an alliance is to win power, make the move everyone begged for, and then watch the people you saved vote against your plan.

Barrett opened the week by winning his first Head of Household competition, a St. Patrick’s Day race involving rainbow balls and questionable Irish enthusiasm. After weeks of smiling beside the Icons, he stopped pretending the relationship had a future. He nominated Angela, Dee, and Devens together, guaranteeing all three veterans would compete instead of rescuing one another.

The Icons responded with their emergency weapon: the truth. Dee revealed that Yash’s $5,000 BB Bribe required him to protect all three Icons during his next HOH. Yash insisted the deal covered only Dee. Devens backed her version. Barrett absorbed the information, considered that Yash might become much more dangerous later, and nominated the Icons anyway. It was the strategic equivalent of reading the fire warning and continuing to light candles because the table looked nice.

BB Comics offered the trio their best escape. Yash, Taylor, Barrett, and all three nominees competed while Drew and Melody watched. Yash completed the course in 13:46, beating Devens by only 26 seconds and collecting his third veto. Devens came close enough to safety to smell it, then watched Yash wear it around his neck.

Yash kept the veto unused, leaving all three Icons nominated. The ceremony became another argument over Barrett’s betrayal, his alliances, and the moral outrage of discovering Big Brother contestants lie. Barrett wanted an Icon gone. The Icons wanted Barrett’s résumé submitted directly to the jury with several angry annotations.

Meanwhile, Dee campaigned hard. She offered Yash and Taylor loyalty, protection, and herself as a shield against Drew and Barrett. Angela looked less threatening than either Survivor veteran, which usually makes someone safer. This week, it made her disposable. Yash and Taylor decided Dee’s enemies could become useful, while Angela might eventually sit beside them and stay.

On eviction night, the Icons faced a double-sided wheel puzzle in the BB Blockbuster. Dee appeared to be leading until Devens recovered and won his second consecutive Blockbuster. He has now turned Thursday survival into a recurring appointment.

With Devens safe, Dee made one public pitch to Yash and Taylor. Angela insisted the Icons were not different from everyone else, loudly enough that jury may have heard the distinction. Drew and Melody voted to evict Dee. Devens, Taylor, and Yash evicted Angela 3-2.

Angela correctly identified the votes, told them the move made sense, and began a goodbye so extended that production probably considered charging rent. She hugged everyone, spoke to everyone, circled back, and eventually exited as the season’s second juror.

Then Week Ten arrived carrying Week Nine’s unpaid consequences. Yash won his second HOH, meaning the bribe he had minimized became his actual nomination policy. Dee and Devens were protected. Taylor was his closest ally. That left Drew, Melody, and Barrett as his three nominees, which is less a strategic choice than a math problem with photographs.

Saturday brought the Pressure Cooker veto. Taylor was the only person not competing. When the feeds returned, all six players were still balancing polygraph cards in the “Focker In-Law” endurance setup. Dee fell first, followed by Melody. Devens lasted until 9:30. Barrett endured until 2:20 in the morning, roughly twelve hours after the exhausting competition began.

That left Drew and a sick, exhausted Yash negotiating in the final minutes. Yash agreed to drop after Drew promised not to vote out Taylor if she remained vulnerable Thursday and not to nominate or renom Yash during his next HOH. Drew swore on his sister. Yash warned him against betrayal, lost his card moments later, and lay on the floor after feeds returned.

Drew won the veto and will save himself Monday. Because the bribe still protects Dee and Devens, Taylor is the expected replacement nominee. Week Nine began with Barrett finally taking a shot at the Icons. It ended with Angela gone, both Survivor players safe, Barrett still nominated, and Drew holding the necklace after an overnight hostage negotiation conducted beside a polygraph. Even the competition theme knew nobody should trust anybody.
