Big Brother 28 Update: One Curse, Two Nominees, and a Chipped Plate
The Pharaoh’s Curse has settled over Big Brother 28, although its symptom appears to be everyone making promises they should know not to trust.
After winning the miniature HOH competition, Devens secured a place in the Final Four and nominated Drew and Melody. The pair survived Thursday’s double eviction to land together on the block, because the house has stopped pretending their emotional entanglement and strategic loyalty are separate problems.
Drew argued Friday for nominating Taylor instead. He offered to throw the veto, promised Melody would expect him not to use it, and proposed surrendering his HOH letter and family photographs as collateral. Devens declined, presumably because “holding childhood memories hostage” felt aggressive even for Final Five.
Dee worried that any veto use would make her the replacement nominee. Devens considered saving Drew if he or Dee won. Dee assured Drew he would stay against anyone. At Final Five, this is less reassurance than an invitation to examine who believes they control the deciding vote.
Melody assumed Devens would nominate her, but remained willing to join him, Dee, and Drew in a Final Four. She told Taylor she had heard Yash deliberately lost the Pressure Cooker after making a deal with Drew. Taylor dismissed the story because it meant Yash knowingly forced her onto the block. Unfortunately, the story is true. Yash protected Taylor with his deal, but only after helping create the danger. This season’s loyalty is apparently assembled from leftover parts.
By evening, Drew and Melody were mourning Barrett and promising one another they had not accepted the $10,000 tied to the curse. Melody suspected Devens. She was right, which may be her most accurate read involving a man all week.
Their midnight hot-tub conversation then swerved from game damage to existential damage. Drew admitted, “I do not like the person I have become in here.” Melody responded afterward with the revelation that Yash used to eat ants by licking them up with his tongue. There are moments when the universe refuses therapy.
They walked inside with linked arms, hugged goodnight, and separated for bed. Melody turned on the shower and sat outside it while the water ran, an image that perfectly captured the post-double-eviction mood: technically preparing to cleanse, emotionally nowhere near entering.
Taylor and Dee later joined the bathroom rotation. Melody complained that the Diary Room always calls her after she washes her face. Taylor said she was comfortable appearing without makeup, demonstrating the emotional resilience production apparently finds unacceptable.
Morning brought quieter omens. Devens drank coffee alone on the balcony, contemplating his reign. Melody studied the Memory Wall, checked herself in the mirrors, dropped and chipped a plate, apologized to Big Brother, then applied a Band-Aid.
The veto now determines whether Drew and Melody can protect themselves or whether Dee becomes collateral damage. The house is cursed, the couple is nominated, and Melody has already broken kitchenware. At least one object has stopped pretending it can survive the week intact.
