Big Brother 28 Weekly Recap: Two Evictions and One Closing Argument
Big Brother 28 entered the week with five houseguests and exited with three, because finale week required the pacing of an airport evacuation.
Sunday’s episode returned to the double eviction fallout, with Yash gone, Dee saved, and Melody regretting it. Vince arrived bearing the Pharaoh’s Curse: whoever pressed a button received $10,000 and triggered an accelerated eviction. Devens pressed it because children are expensive. Nothing summons ancient evil faster than a practical father spotting cash. Naturally, the curse had excellent production values.
Devens then won the tiny-block HOH and nominated Drew and Melody, targeting Melody because her bond with Drew was too dangerous. Dee preferred Drew gone, but Drew won the veto by guiding a mummy through trip wires with only 15 strikes. He saved himself, forcing Taylor onto the block.
The curse made eviction an Egyptian pottery court. Melody and Taylor had one hour to campaign before Drew and Dee smashed artifacts instead of casting votes. Drew broke Taylor's. Dee broke Melody's. Devens broke the tie by destroying Melody's artifact, evicting her without Julie, an audience, or enough time to define her relationship with Drew.
At Final Four, Taylor won the vampire HOH by identifying missing houseguests and completing face puzzles. She nominated Drew and Dee, though the veto held the real power. In Meow Meow Labs, players matched past events to their correct days and submitted answers by sitting on toilets, uniting memory with bathroom humor. Drew won, saved himself, and became sole voter between Dee and Devens.
Dee warned him Devens would win the season. Devens offered loyalty. Drew chose loyalty and evicted Dee, who immediately said he had made a mistake while acknowledging she would have evicted him too. Friendship in Big Brother is beautiful, circular, and usually followed by a jury key.
The Final Three became Taylor, Drew, and Devens. Taylor won Part One of the final HOH, sending Drew and Devens into Part Two. Devens won that round, so he and Taylor will face each other live in Part Three. The winner selects the other finalist. Drew cannot compete, yet both potential winners have indicated they may take him. His final challenge is sitting still while others decide whether he receives a chance at $750,000.
Saturday night exposed that helplessness. Taylor studied days, then found someone else’s hair in the shower and delivered a documentary called Nasty House, Nasty People. Production told her to wear her microphone. She climbed into her pod without doing so, the cleanest victory anyone scored over Big Brother all summer.
Drew instead addressed the cameras. Walking laps, practicing at the pool table, and holding his Big Brother cup, he assembled the case he hopes to make to the jury.
He called evicting Dee his biggest move because it left him positioned for both Taylor and Devens to take him. He described himself as a middle player with options, someone the Icons feared but could not remove. He reminded the jury that he touched the block six times and saved himself five times. He claimed the Crossovers, Kamu's nomination, Jason's backdoor, and relationships across the house as proof he was not hiding. He was everywhere, even when people found it annoying.
His strongest pitch was also his least strategic. Drew said he wanted the money for his mother, who came from another country and sacrificed so he could build a life here. Then he spoke directly to Melody's absence. He said he could not have survived the game without her, that she defended him when others would not, and remained beside him regardless of whom he angered. He accused Devens of evicting her to pull Drew closer and use his competition ability.
That theory may flatter Drew, but the grief underneath it was real. His polished argument kept slipping into the simpler question: “Do I have a chance to win this whole thing?”
Eventually, Drew went inside and climbed into bed. The camera lingered on Melody's pretend phone before the lights disappeared.
That was the week: two women evicted, two men headed toward a live showdown, and one finalist rehearsing how to explain a summer built on being wanted just enough, but never quite first.
